My birthday, my uncle Dan’s wedding, and my first wedding anniversary with Robert – all of this definitely calls for a little getaway trip! When Robert and I decided on our wedding date, about a year ago, and it landed just two days after my birthday, we made a deal that we would celebrate each year by taking a little trip somewhere. When my Uncle called and invited us to come to Tampa, Florida for his wedding that very same weekend, the trip was decided for us and couldn’t have worked out better!
Tampa is such a beautiful and energetic place to visit or live. Having been only once before, I knew a few favorite spots I wanted to visit again, and picked out a few new ones to try. Our hotel was right next to the busy Riverwalk, with fun activities to do like taking a boat tour, or learning to Paddleboard. Or, like Robert and I, you can watch all the excitement while enjoying a drink and listening to live music at The Sail Pavilion (Try the Grapefruit Crush, its delicious!). Right outside our hotel was an incredible restaurant, Jacksons Bistro, we might have eaten at least one meal there every day, including a very special surprise birthday lunch for yours truly! The lunch was completed with a delicious piece of chocolate cake, topped with a pretty pink candle (do I have a great husband or what?). I am a sucker for a good brunch (who isn’t right?) On Sundays at Jacksons Bistro they have a brunch like I have never seen before, from eggs benedict, bacon, and an omelet station to fresh salmon, sushi, and even dessert. They have something for everyone, and I mean everyone!
The first event while in Tampa was my uncle Dan’s wedding, and what a beautiful day they had! It was the first time a wedding was held at the Crumb & Cork, a wine bar that features jazz musicians in downtown Tampa “Where Wine meets Jazz!” Knowing I would be in Florida, I knew I had to brighten up my attire in some way, so I decided on a sleeveless Coral Hunter Bell dress. This dress has such a flattering shape and length, even for us “fun sized” folks at only 5’1″. The Kate Spade double strand necklace added that additional glitter that completed my look. And the Rebecca Minkoff clutch was just the right size to carry the essentials I needed for a night out on the town, and comes in so many colors – I also love it in blue!

The next stop on our trip was our anniversary dinner at the Columbia Restaurant in historic Ybor City. The last time my husband and I visited Tampa, we had the chance to visit their café location along the Riverwalk at the Tampa History Center, which was pretty amazing, but we knew we had to try the real thing the next chance we had! “Gem of Spanish Restaurants” – this restaurant is Florida’s oldest Restaurant, founded in 1905. I cannot even explain how beautiful this place is, so check out the website for a better view. While enjoying our Sangre Tinto (Red Sangria) made right at the table, along with a shared helping of the signature 1905 salad, we had front row seats to their nightly Flemenco dance show! I have never seen dancing like that before, and just wanted to jump up on stage and join in. They were so captivating and fun. Now let’s talk about the food – I left feeling 10lbs heavier than I did when I arrived, and was completely okay with that because the food is to die for. I had what is called the Cannelloni de langosta “7 portes” essentially it’s pasta filled with goodies like lobster, shrimp, and scallops then smothered in a buttery lobster cheese sauce (O.M.G!)
