I recently returned from a work trip to Dallas, TX, and I am excited to share all the fun with you! I have been to Dallas several times before, each time for work and each time less exciting than the last. This time was different because Robert joined me and he always makes traveling more fun!
Dallas has a couple spots that are totally worth checking out. My favorite spot was Klyde Warren Park in the Art District, it is the most adorable park full of activities and places to relax for everyone, as well as being just across the street from some of Dallas’s best museums. You can visit Klyde Warren to enjoy a game like Chess, Croquet or Ping Pong, free of charge, just ask for the game you need and you’re good to play all day! You can also enjoy lunch from the many food trucks that line the street, surrounding the park, or a delicious popsicle from Steele City Pops on a break from work or between playing games.
You should see Klyde Warren at night, the trees that line the park are wrapped in lights like Christmas trees! You can see the beautiful trees and views of the city all lit up while enjoying a great meal from the parks restaurant, Savor Gastropub found on the edge of the park, and where all the delicious drinks and food come from local North Texas providers! I love that you can sit inside the glass walled restaurant so you wont miss the twinkling lights of the city view, or you can sit outside on the porch listening to the music and enjoying the Dallas weather!
Another great spot is Deep Ellum in the Entertainment District. It is the hub for music and has so many incredible murals, making it one of the most unique places that I have visited! It was a fun spot to walk around, you could choose almost any door and find great music inside along with some good drinks and yummy food! One of the best spots for BBQ is found in Deep Ellum. Pecan Lodge is known for its BBQ, you will have to stand in a line that follows out the door, but its worth it for their incredible brisket, fried chicken or Mac & Cheese! Honestly I don’t think I have ever eaten so much Mac & Cheese until I visited Dallas (for the 4th time).
While visiting Dallas we also had the chance to meet up with Robert’s cousin and her family. One of my favorite parts about traveling is connecting with family in those area, most of all because you get to visit folks you do not always get to see, but also because they will show you some of the best parts of their city! We had the chance to grab dinner at Savor, walk through the museums, then took a ride to walk the Ronald Kirk Bridge giving us the best view of Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge! They are also the ones who suggested us trying out The Standard Pour, where I found the Liketoknow.it he(art) wall!
