1.) Turn Off Cell Phone Notifications: This means, alerts, ringers, gym alarms, to-do alarms, texting sounds.all.of.it. Take time to pay attention to what notifications are stealing your focus throughout the day and make a change.
2.) Don’t be that guy: You know Im talking to YOU. Yes, YOU! Nose deep in your phone! Put it down while you’re in a meeting, a restaurant. If you cant stay off your phone to spend time with people while you’re out, you probably should cancel next time. John & I recently went to dinner with a few of my siblings and Its so crazy to me how many times they picked up their phones. We have limited time on this earth, spend it paying attention. I am 100% guilty of this from time to time, but I try and make a constant effort to change it.
3.) Save it for later: You dont have to post in the moment, social media and that group chat your on will be there in the morning. I am also guilty of this, I get so excited while at weddings, special occasions or just hanging with my bf’s, John or my family that I want to share it with the world. Be present and send the photos or post on social media the next time while you have down time.
4.) Make Time: If the person is important, the thing, if you like to read, bike, run, you name it..make time for it. Its important to set aside YOU time to decompress. This will help you be more alert when you are busy and be present at work and throughout your day.
Do y’all have any tips for staying in the moment? Would love to hear your thoughts, so leave a comment below. Happy Wednesday, we’re half way there! XO, ATS.
Wake Up Early. Work Out. Drink Coffee. Work Hard. Be Ambitious. Do What You Love.

Happy Wednesday everyone, thanks for tuning into Soho2Noho this week for some more fun! As you know, I haven’t have a lot of downtime lately to take photos (Sorry! I will get better I promise!) as its always dark when I get out of work – so when I was thinking of ideas of what you’d all want to hear I thought instead..what would be helpful for our readers. I was thinking about how all my friends are starting to turn 30 and a lot of them have mentioned to me that they’re morning routines are out of wack, they have more trouble getting up in the morning now, can’t get organized or focused at work – So I am here to give just some of what I have found helpful, in hopes it may help all of you! Now, that being said – we all have very different life styles. You could be a mom of a few children reading this, or someone who has a 9-5 job, someone who works night and not during the day – regardless of how different our life styles may seem day-to-day – we are all constantly striving for balance. I have always believed to have a balanced life you have to have an organized one. Yes, you may be thinking – why the hellzzzz would I want to take advice from someone who works insane hours and has zero work-life balance..well, I have been living this crazy life for awhile now and have always managed to juggle everything, so I would like to think I am doing something right 🙂 So, this post is dedicated to all my friends out there who need a little boost in the mornings!
Here are some key things I have started to do to boost my mornings & get my day started on the right foot:
1.) The Outfit: Lay your clothes out before you go to bed..even if you’re exhausted. We all strive for those last minutes of sleep in the morning. Even if you are tired the night before, take 5 minutes to lay out your outfit so it is easier to get up and go the next day. I’ve been told this is especially helpful for mothers who have children and have very minimal “me” time doing those early mornings.
2.) Workout & Hydrate: Try starting your morning off by drinking a large glass of water. This will help make you more alert and kick-start your immune system into gear. If you dont want to get up that hour early to workout, or prefer to do your workout at night – starting your morning by reserving 5 minutes of stretching will help wake your body up and prepare if for the long day ahead. I have a few friends who do morning yoga with there kids and have said this is an amazing way to stay to your routine but while having quality time with your kiddo’s at the same time!
3.) Music / Reading: Ditch social media on your train ride or walk to work, pop in your headphone and turn on your favorite playlist or read a few pages of that book you’ve been trying to finish for 2 years now. Starting your mind with music & reading has been proven to help wake up your brain and senses.
4.) To-Do List: I have always been a super organized person, I am all about lists, calendars, colors & visuals. If it is not written infront of me, it would still happen but I like a ton of reminders and lists. My advise is to take 5 minutes the night before a busy day, or first thing in the morning when you get to work to create a master list. I typically do this on Monday mornings – I then assign each task a day of the week and I only do what is assigned for the day at hand. This will allow you to budget your time management better, not overwork yourself and to always ensure your hitting deadlines, weather that be at work or at home.
5. Positivity is a Choice: As most of you know, I am going on my 4th year at Rent the Runway. We have a list of 10 Core Values that we live by here. One of them being “Positivity is a Choice”. As corny as that may sound, its true. The mindset in which you start your day will be how your day goes and I truly believe that. This is one I struggle with everyday and am working on myself. But my mom has always reminded me when Im down, or having a bad day..”Someone has it was worse than you, so be grateful.” So I try and live that way, positive mind, positive day.
That wraps up my 5 secrets to how I keep my mornings & days productive, positive & organized! Do you have anything that you like to do in the mornings that has had a positive impact on your life & mind? Please leave a comment below and let me know, would love to try some new ones out!
As always, thank you so much for reading & have a great rest of your week! XOXO, ats

Robert and I have been together for ten years now and this past week we marked 2 years of marriage. I believe being a newlywed is different for everyone, for us it’s been an easy adjustment since we knew each other so well before we got married. We met in college and dated throughout, we even dated through me studying for my Master’s degree. We shared the experience of our first apartment together, and second and now third. We have been through a lot together from learning who we are as individuals in college (which is what I think college is all about) to learning who we are together, as a team. Now after two years of marriage we are the strongest we’ve ever been, we share everything from laughs to tears and support each other through everything. There are many qualities I love about Robert but on our second anniversary I am sharing my two favorite things that I love about my husband!
- He can still make my heart skip a beat
When you are in a new relationship and in lust with a person, just getting a text or a little kiss on the cheek can make you smile and your heart skip a beat. Every once in awhile I get this same feeling when I catch him looking at me while we are sitting on the couch, or when he sneaks a hug, and I feel like I did when we were first dating. When this happens I always think about how lucky I am to have such an amazing love in my life. I feel so fortunate to have found someone and to be so deeply in love so early in our lives, and look forward to a long life together!
- His selflessness
Robert has a passion for making people happy, and is always thinking of others. When we travel and he sees something in a store he thinks someone might like, he has to get it, and always makes a point to send birthday cards or celebratory cards to say he is proud of someone. He is also an incredible gift giver and loves giving people thoughtful and special surprises. He often surprises me with flowers that he will send to my office, and brings me home a little dessert after attending one of his many work dinner events, just because he knows how excited I will be to get a cookie (it’s the little things). This year for my birthday he setup one of the best surprise of my life! Before our dinner reservation, he sat me down in front of the tv and handed me a glass a champagne (with a strawberry because he also has taste!) and he started a video that he created to present my birthday surprise. The video announced that we would be celebrating our next anniversary as well as ring in my 30th birthday (next year) in the place I have ALWAYS wanted to go – PARIS!!
With Sidney Bechet’s, Si tu vois ma mère playing in the background and tears streaming down my face, Roberts video continued with even more surprised. On the morning of my birthday, Robert scheduled Honorina Makeup Studios to come to our Parisian apartment (for the week!) to do my hair & makeup for a special photoshoot with Ioana from The Paris Photographers in front of the Eiffel Tower at sunrise! I will not only have beautiful photos as a perfect memory of my trip to Paris, and my 30th birthday, but also to share my trip with all of you, again always thinking of others and making my dreams (literally) come true!
Happy Anniversary my Love!
“A dog doesn’t care if you’re rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his.”-John Grogan
There is no greater love than the love of a dog, I truly do believe that. For as long as I can remeber I have loved animals, you name it I’ve owned it. Growing up my parents used to take me to Van Saun County Park in Paramus NJ, there you could do everything from ride pony’s, to take a train ride around the zoo. I alway will remember liking it there because it wasn’t crowded like your typical zoo, you could actual walk around peacefully and play with the animals 1:1. I feel like that is where my love for all animals began. I’ve had just about every animal you could possibly have…cats, gerbils, guinea pigs, and even a chinchilla in college that my group of friends named JBC (Junior Bacon Cheeseburger)…but later got renamed to Chimmy-Changa…but he’s a whole other story!
The one thing I had ever wanted growing up was a dog. I begged and begged and finally my dad got me a Bernese Mt. Dog, Preston (named by my brother Ryan after Preston Willson the baseball player). Preston was the best dog – had such kind eyes, gentle soul and just wanted to be loved. He was the runt of the litter and at his heaviest was only about 60lb which is very small for a Bernese. Preston was taken from us too soon and passed away at the young age of 5 from a seizure disorder. At that moment I told myself I needed a dog when I was old and mature enough to care for one myself. Fast forward to a few months after I graduated college and moved back in with my parents…I went full force into convincing my mom that we NEEDED a dog…not wanted, NEEDED! I told my mom I was in a deep depression from missing my college friends and I needed a companion, haha! I took ever measure imaginable to get this dog…I was pasting photos of Golden Retrievers all over the house, changing the screen-saver on all the home computers, sending her youtube videos, driving my mom past dog parks and every place I knew there were puppies…she wasn’t budging. Then one day I decided, what the hell…I will just send in the deposit for this upcoming litter and hope for the best. A few months went by and I then started ordering dog supplies from amazon and picking one item up each week at the local pet store. My mom kept saying ” I don’t know why you’re buying all of this, you don’t own a dog.” I cant remember exactly when or how she gave me the ok…I am actually not even sure I got a verbal “Yes”…but either way, on December 5th, 2009 my best friend was born. Tucker Brando was one of 13 puppies and it was love at first sight. I picked him up on my 23rd Birthday when he was just a few weeks old and we’ve been best buds ever since. My mom recently figured out that Tucker has moved with me 8 times in the 7 years he’s been alive – crazy right!?! Fast forward almost 5 years after getting Tucker I took home his nephew Wallie.
I wanted to write a blog post all about my boys, because to me – they are my family. Dogs are a lot of responsibility, they cost a lot, require love, attention, vet visits/bills, you name it – but to me, it is all worth it because they will give you a kind of love in return that is not able to be put into words. They were there for me during times Im not quite sure I would have gotten through without them by my side, and for them I will be forever grateful. “A person can learn a lot from a dog, even a loopy one like ours. Marley taught me about living each day with unbridled exuberance and joy, about seizing the moment and following your heart. He taught me to appreciate the simple things-a walk in the woods, a fresh snowfall, a nap in a shaft of winter sunlight. And as he grew old and achy, he taught me about optimism in the face of adversity. Mostly, he taught me about friendship and selflessness and, above all else, unwavering loyalty.”
To my boys, thank you for being my best buds for life. Mama loves you!
Do any of you have dogs? If so, I would love to hear about them – leave a comment below! And as always, thank you so much for reading!
